What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of holistic energy healing which means it heals the mind, body, and soul. Reiki originated in Japan and is now practiced all over the world. It is not attached to any one specific religion or belief.

In Japanese, Reiki means Universal life force energy.

Rei – Universe

Ki – Life force energy.

The human body consists of a physical body which we can see with our eyes and an invisible auric body which can be felt by possibly everyone, with the right training. The aura is the energy field, distributed within the physical body and has seven layers, with the outermost layer reaching around the outside of the body. The innermost layer of the aura is called the inner aura and has the same shape as the physical body. Within the inner aura, there are seven major points called chakras.

The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. When the chakras spin, cosmic energy created by supreme power is drawn into the chakras and reaches the physical body. Persisting emotional disturbance causes the chakras to become blocked and the flow of energy is thrown into imbalance. Imbalance of one single chakra results the other chakras also becoming imbalanced. This results in disease of a single organ or the entire system which is under the control of that chakra because a block in cosmic energy flow results in an accumulation  of negative energy in the tissues and organs and the physical body reveals symptoms of the disease.

Reiki treatment must be given by a fully qualified practitioner who has completed the necessary training to a high standard and received attunement from a Reiki master.  This training and attunement allows for cosmic energy to pass through the body of the Reiki practitioner to the client and to the chakras of the client during the treatment process.

What happens during a session?

  • Sessions will take place in your own home unless distance healing is required.

  • We will complete a full consultation prior to your treatment to ensure as a practitioner I can offer the best treatment for your specific requirements.

  • Treatment is given through my hands which are held in specific positions over your body with you laying down on a therapist couch or sat in a chair if you are unable to do this.

  • You never undress but you should take your shoes off for comfort.

  • There is no physical contact at all without your permission. Where permitted, physical contact is just hands placed in a specific area of need such as on your head. With or without physical contact, you will still receive the benefits of Reiki.

  • A session will last between 45-55 minutes excluding time for consultation.

  • There are no minimum or maximum number of sessions you should have as this is completely a personal decision, however as a practitioner I will make a recommendation based on your individual circumstances and requirements.

What about distance healing?

Reiki practitioners like myself are fully trained and attuned to offer distance reiki. Believe it or not, many of the benefits are the same as in-person Reiki. This works by the practitioner ‘tuning in’ to you and working on your needs virtually. This treatment can be completed face to face via a live media platform such as Zoom or completely remotely. In this instance you will be asked to provide a photograph of yourself and an agreed time will be made for Reiki healing to take place.

Distance Reiki generally lasts 20-30 minutes, depending on your individual requirements.
